Cruises from the UK
Cruises from the UK are perfect for those who want to avoid flying. More cruise lines than ever cruise from the UK and while cruises from Southampton remains the UK’s largest cruise port, itineraries also run from ports around the country including Harwich, Dover, Portsmouth, Falmouth, Greenock, Rosyth, Edinburgh, Hull, Liverpool and Belfast.
The port of Southampton has several major terminals, with the most commonly used including the Ocean Terminal, the recently refurbished Mayflower Terminal and the City Terminal. P&O Cruises, Princess Cruises and Cunard all operate out of the Ocean, Mayflower and Queen Elizabeth II terminals, while Royal Caribbean and Celebrity Cruises operate from the City Terminal.
Cruising from the UK has a number of benefits. Check-in is much quicker at cruise terminals than airports, with an average time of just 20-30 minutes for embarkation. Your luggage is taken from you at the terminal and delivered to your stateroom by cabin stewards and porters. You’ll avoid delayed flights and waits at the luggage carousel, and will usually benefit from a much better luggage allowance too; while each case must weigh no more than 23kg for healthy and safety reasons, there is no limit on how many cases you may bring with you (within reason).
