Entertainment

Entertainment during the day & evening

If you thought cruise ship entertainment was all about second-rate singers and questionable cabaret, think again! Nowadays, the ship is as much a destination as the ports it will visit and you can rest assured that there’s never a dull moment once you’re once board. Cruise lines pull out all the stops when it comes to entertainment, with a combination of full-scale Broadway and West End-style productions, award-winning musicians, deck-top cinema screenings and laugh-a-minute comedians all on hand to ensure your days and nights at sea are as exciting as your days ashore.

Days can be spent doing everything from simulated skydiving to learning a language and cooking up a storm in culinary schools. You’ll find good old pub quizzes in British-themed pubs and dad will be happy to hear that his favourite sports will be shown on board too, so he needn’t miss the match.

Come evening, the entertainment options are endless. Broadway and West End shows rule the seas, re-enacted on the waves on board ships in the Royal Caribbean and Norwegian Cruise Line fleets. Movie nights are held on the open decks, whilst comedy clubs showcase some of the biggest laughs at sea. Grammy Award-winning musicians often appear on board, alongside world-class performers who light up the stage in live music venues that rival some of the best on land. Flirt with Lady Luck in the casino or indulge your appetite at an old Hollywood style supper club. One thing’s for sure, you’ll never be bored.

Most of the entertainment options will be included in your cruise fare, with just a few extra-special shows requiring an additional payment. Among them is The Limelight Club onboard newer P&O Cruises ships Britannia, Iona and Arvia. Big-name acts appear in the intimate club-like area, and you’ll be treated to a three-course meal as well.

Whilst some entertainment can be booked before your cruise via the Cruise Personaliser, most do not require pre-booking; simply show up, grab a drink and take your seat. Most performances are held twice each evening, giving everyone a chance to witness the spectacle for themselves.
