The company behind the recent purchase of Azamara has revealed that it is to add the former Princess Cruises ship, Pacific Princess, to the luxury fleet.
The ship, formerly known as the R Three under the Renaissance Cruises brand, is identical in build to Azamara’s existing vessels, Azamara Journey, Azamara Quest and the most recent addition, Azamara Pursuit.
News of the purchase comes just days after Royal Caribbean announced that it had sold the small ship luxury cruise brand to Sycamore Partners for $201million. Just two days later, Princess Cruises revealed that it had sold the popular Pacific Princess – the smallest in the fleet – to an ‘undisclosed buyer’.
In a statement, Azamara’s CEO Carol Cabezas revealed that the ship would enter service in Europe for the 2022 cruise season.
“Prior to our return to service, we will complete a bow-to-stern refurbishment that will echo the soft, natural tones and elegant touches of her sister ships with a few new onboard elements,” said Cabezas. “And, of course, you can expect those same intimate experiences and personalized touches Azamara is known and loved for.”
Itineraries and further details of refurbishment plans are still to be revealed, but the purchase is positive news for fans of the Azamara brand with it confirming that the cruise line won’t just continue operating following its sale. but will expand.
“Stay tuned in the coming months to learn more about our newest boutique hotel at sea with sneak peeks on interiors, itineraries, and more,” Cabezas hinted. “We hope you are as excited for the future as we are and we can’t wait to embark into this new world with even more opportunities for deeper immersion.”
