The number of cruises from Liverpool is expected to soar this year, as the northern port prepares to welcome its most ambitious schedule to date.
Cruise Liverpool revealed that more than 100 cruises are already in the pipeline for this year, including 10 inaugural visits from popular ships. Virgin Voyages Valiant Lady will be heading to Liverpool in 2022, as will Celebrity Apex and Norwegian Dawn. It will be the first time any of these ships have sailed from Merseyside.
Fred Olsen has once again chosen Liverpool as the home port for Borealis, its flagship vessel.
Cruises in Liverpool for 2022 will fully get underway in March with a visit from Virgin Voyages, and will also include visits from Queen Victoria, and the ever-popular Disney Magic in September.
Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Visitor Economy, Councillor Harry Doyle, said: “While we move into the 2022 season with some justifiable caution, there’s optimism that we will be able to give passengers and operators passing through our terminal the experience they deserve.
“Plans for 2022 are shaping up nicely, and we will continue to take all the necessary precautions to make cruising through Liverpool a safe experience for everyone involved.”
