Cunard’s First Female Captain to Join Queen Anne

Cunard’s first female Captain will be at the helm of Queen Anne when she launches in 2024. Inger Klein Thorhauge became the Captain of Queen Victoria in 2010 and will be moving to Cunard’s brand new ship currently under construction in Southampton.

Celebrating 25 years of service this year, Inger Klein Thorhauge started her career as a Second Officer onboard Cunard’s Vistafjord. She is originally from the Faroe Islands and has most recently been the Captain of Queen Elizabeth.

During her time on Queen Anne, she will share duties with David Hudson, whose Cunard career began in 2006.

Inger Klein Thorhauge commented: “I am very proud to be Cunard’s first female captain, but to be named as the first captain of Queen Anne is the greatest honour. It means the absolute world to me to be a part of the next chapter of Cunard.

“I can’t wait to see the reaction Queen Anne will receive from our guests when they first step on board, then to set sail and showcase our beautiful new ship to the world, visiting wonderful, and exciting ports! I can only begin to imagine the reception she will receive.

“When I discuss Queen Anne with Cunard crew it is so clear how excited and proud they are too, to welcome a new ship to the fleet. The crew are fundamental in delivering that quintessential Cunard experience, and I know they will continue to deliver the exceptionally high standards of our White Star Service on Queen Anne that our guests expect from us.”

Additional details of Queen Anne’s senior leadership team will be revealed over the next few months. The ship’s maiden season will be available to book from May 2022 and the first sailings scheduled for early 2024.

  • I’d like information on the Queen Anne Cruises, as I’ve sailed on Cunard previously! And dined with , and met the Captain , when she was called Captain Ingrid Olsen ,on board the Queen Victoria. My hope is to sail with her again , it will bring back memories.
