Perfect Day at CocoCay is Royal Caribbean’s exclusive private island in the Bahamas. It features on all of the cruise line’s Caribbean itineraries, and every sailing on board the newest ship, Utopia of the Seas.
From the largest freshwater pool in the Caribbean to up-close encounters with the island’s natural wonders, a Perfect Day at CocoCay is designed to cater to every type of holidaymaker. Read on to discover Cruise & Stay Team Leader Oliver’s Perfect Day at CocoCay review, as he explains what to expect from this Bahamian paradise.
My first impressions of Perfect Day at CocoCay were that it definitely lives up to its name – Royal Caribbean had promised us a day filled with endless fun and relaxation, and they weren’t lying!
As soon as you walk off the gangway and look down the dock, you can see this amazing private island with tall palm trees with the waterslides peering out of the top. At the entrance, you’re greeted with a Caribbean band singing and dancing ‘It’s a Perfect Day’ which made it feel special from the moment we stepped ashore. I couldn’t wait to start exploring!
Many of the experiences on the island are complimentary, and there is no entry fee to step ashore for the day. There are, however, some activities and extras that incur an additional charge. For example, we hired a cabana for the day and purchased tickets for the Thrill Waterpark, both of which are available for an extra fee.
The cabana hire proved to be excellent value, as we had a dedicated server who only attended to three cabanas. As soon as we wanted any food or drink, all we had to do was press a button and they appeared to take our order. All the service we encountered at Perfect Day at CocoCay was five-star.
Our cabana was the ideal place to enjoy a spot of lunch after a day of exploring the island. I’m not going to lie … when I saw the menu I couldn’t resist what was on offer, so I ordered two mains. The first was a whole lobster in garlic butter which was so fresh and amazing, the second was a double bacon cheeseburger – and yes, I did order French fries with both!
You might be asking yourself whether the food is included when you visit Perfect Day at CocoCay. There are three eateries that you won’t pay extra for – Skipper’s Grill, Chill Grill and Snack Shack – so there’s no need to spend more during your time here if you don’t want to.
After a few hours of relaxing, it was time to explore one of the main attractions: the Thrill Waterpark. This is where guests can indulge in an array of exhilarating activities, from towering waterslides that promise laughter and heart-pounding drops, to the Caribbean’s largest wave pool that offers the rush of the ocean. Rest assured there is something for everyone, and not just the adventure seeker.
Anyone who wants to test their courage can do so at Daredevil’s Peak, the tallest waterslide in the Caribbean standing at a record-breaking 135 feet. Another option is to gather your friends or family to take on seven adrenaline-pumping slides at Splash Summit. Additionally, the Adventure Pool offers a chance to bounce, climb, and swing through obstacles.
With so much to explore, the Thrill Waterpark promises an unforgettable day filled with excitement and adventure, and it was definitely one of the many highlights of my time at Perfect Day at CocoCay.
Later that day, we were invited to Hideaway Beach at Perfect Day at CocoCay. This adults-only haven is set away from the island’s more family-focused areas, and is an exclusive retreat designed for guests aged 18 and over.
Guests at Hideaway Beach can enjoy premium amenities, and have access to dedicated bar and dining services. It was, without a doubt, the highlight of my entire trip; I found myself partying with Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts as a live DJ performed in the middle of the pool.
There were also two complimentary dining venues, ample comfortable seating with shading, and live entertainment featuring a live band and DJ sets. For those seeking the ultimate VIP experience, the option to upgrade to a Hideaway Cabana is available, and whether you’re soaking up the atmosphere, or unwinding in the cabanas, Hideaway Beach guarantees an unforgettable adults-only escape.
It’s hard to put into words just how amazing Perfect Day at CocoCay really is. As I’ve already mentioned, it strikes a good balance between fun and relaxation, and there is so much to do no matter what your interests might be.
Your experience at Perfect Day at CocoCay can be as jam-packed or laid back as you like, and it really is a standout experience on board any Royal Caribbean cruise to this part of the world.
