Fred. Olsen Returns to Cruising from Portsmouth

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has resumed operations in Portsmouth and is set to begin a series of voyages to various destinations such as Norway, Portugal, and the Canary Islands.

Borealis will embark on seven cruises from Portsmouth throughout November, December, and January. These voyages offer guests the opportunity to witness the enchanting Northern Lights in Arctic Norway, celebrate the New Year with a spectacular fireworks display in Madeira, and observe marine wildlife in the waters of the Caribbean.

Among the Fred. Olsen cruises from Portsmouth departing in the coming weeks is the 14-night Canary Islands Christmas and Funchal New Year’ sailing. Departing on December 21, 2024, guests can experience the sunny Canary Islands, celebrate Christmas on board, and welcome the New Year with the dazzling fireworks show in Madeira.

Another option is the 14-night ‘Canaries and Carnivals’ cruise aboard the Borealis departing from Portsmouth on 27 February 2025. Passengers will be able to experience the Cadiz Carnival and Tenerife Carnival, explore the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of La Palma, and stroll through the lush botanical gardens of Madeira.

Martin Lister, Head of Product Innovation at Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said: “Having first set sail from Portsmouth back in 2009, we are thrilled to have returned to the port for another busy cruising schedule from November through to February 2025.

“Guests joining us can look forward to a variety of cruises on board Borealis where they can witness spectacular natural phenomena such as the magical Northern Lights, seek out native wildlife and immerse in the local way of life.

“Opportunities in our hand-crafted itineraries include the chance to learn to flamenco dance in its birthplace of Cadiz, discover volcanic vistas in the Canary Islands and spend time with local Sami people to learn about their way of life in Norway.”
