How Does P&O Cruises Cater for Dietary Requirements?

P&O Cruises caters to a wide range of dietary requirements on board its ships – and it is essential that you let us know your specific needs when booking your cruise. If you have any allergies, special dietary requirements or food intolerances, these should be relayed to us as soon as possible, and we will also need to be notified of any changes that occur before you set sail.

What dietary requirements does P&O Cruises cater for?

Vegetarian and vegan diets are both accommodated in all restaurants on board P&O Cruises ships.

Please refer to the table below for details on the additional specific dietary needs that can be accommodated on board P&O Cruises ships.

If you have dietary requirements that are not listed, we recommend that you get in touch with the P&O Cruises Customer Contact Centre on 03453 555 111. The dedicated team will make every effort to meet these requirements and will communicate via email, typically within five days, to confirm whether they can cater to your dietary needs.

Passengers who adhere to a kosher diet should notify P&O Cruises a minimum of 10 weeks before setting sail. Unfortunately, if the notification is given later, or if the cruise is booked within this time frame, the provision of a kosher diet cannot be guaranteed.

Similarly, passengers in need of baby food must make their requirements known no later than eight weeks before their sail date. The baby food provided on board is HiPP Organic baby food jars, covering Stage 1 and Stage 2 only. Notifications given beyond this deadline or for bookings made within this time frame may not be accommodated.

What happens if I’ve booked a P&O Cruises fly-cruise?

For any fly-cruises that include a meal service during the flight (typically applicable only to long-haul flights), the following dietary needs can be accommodated: diabetic, gluten-free, vegan, vegetarian, and child’s meal.

Vegetarian and vegan diets are catered for as standard across the P&O Cruises fleet in all restaurants. You will only need to let us know of your specific requirements if you have booked a fly-cruise through P&O Cruises, which includes a meal during the flight.

In the event that you have booked your flights independently, it is your responsibility to notify the airline of any dietary requirements they will need to facilitate.

How will P&O Cruises accommodate my dietary requirements?

Upon arriving at your cabin, you will find a welcome letter inviting you to meet with the Food and Beverage team. This meeting is your chance to discuss food safety for your holiday, receive recommendations on which restaurants are best suited to your dietary needs, and learn how to pre-order your meals.

Before your meeting, there are a few key pieces of information you should be aware of, which will be covered in more depth during your discussion:

  • Your lunch and dinner for the first day on board will have been pre-ordered to ensure that your dietary needs are met. You will be informed of the specific restaurant you need to go to on the day.
  • It is your responsibility to pre-order all your meals to allow the staff adequate preparation time – this applies to all meals, including afternoon tea.
  • The room service team has access to a list of all guests’ dietary requirements and allergies, ensuring that your needs are taken into consideration throughout your cruise.

The team is ready to help you organise and book your dining experiences in both the Freedom and Club restaurants, as well as make any speciality restaurant reservations you may decide to book.

If you have severe allergies, you are highly recommended to dine in the Freedom and Club restaurants as this will greatly reduce the risk of cross-contamination.
