Hurtigruten Makes Dover Homeport For 2021

Norwegian cruise line Hurtigruten has announced that it will make Dover a home port from March 2021.

The expedition cruise line will offer four itineraries from Dover aboard MS Maud, with the 500-passenger ship sailing 15-day voyages to Norway and the Arctic in the summer and winter seasons, along with British Isles cruises and voyages to Southern Scandinavia.

Speaking about the news, Hurtigruten UK & Ireland General Manager, Anthony Daniels, said:

“We are thrilled to present expedition cruises from Dover year-round. It is a needed boost for the UK cruise industry at this time, and is especially important to showcase how expedition cruising differs from mainstream cruising.”

“These sustainable new itineraries visit off-the-beaten-track waters, coastlines and islands; they are brim-full of unique experiences and destinations rarely visited.”

MS Maud is currently sailing as MS Midnatsol ahead of a complete refurbishment before her homeport debut in Dover. The project will see all public areas redesigned, along with the introduction of three new restaurants: Aune, the main restaurant on board; Fredheim for casual dining; and fine dining restaurant, Lindstrom.

Hurtigruten cruises from Dover on MS Maud will go on sale on 20 June.

In other news, Hurtigruten is set to become the first ocean cruise line to resume full service next week, with Norwegian coastal voyages restarting on 16 June 2020 aboard MS Finnmarken.
