Icon of the Seas Features in Channel 4 Documentary: The World’s Biggest Cruise Ship

Icon of the Seas has taken centre stage in a Channel 4 documentary, The World’s Biggest Cruise Ship.

Camera crews were given exclusive access to Royal Caribbean’s 248,663 gross-ton ship as she sailed out of Miami for the first time earlier this year. During the 60-minute Channel 4 programme, viewers gain a glimpse of the work that goes on behind the scenes of Icon of the Seas to create a memorable holiday experience for all on board.

Capable of holding 7,600 passengers at maximum capacity, Icon of the Seas broke various records when she was launched in January 2024. The onboard waterpark, Category 6, lays claim to being the biggest at sea, while 28 room categories ensure there are accommodation options for every type of cruiser. The world’s biggest ship also features eight neighbourhoods, each with a distinct ambience from the rest of the ship.

Gerard Nolan, Royal Caribbean’s EMEA vice-president, said:

Icon of the Seas continues to break records for Royal Caribbean, from driving the biggest booking weeks in our company history to securing our top guest satisfaction scores.

When it comes to the guest experience, Icon really does change the game when it comes to family holidays and this documentary gives viewers a flavour of what Royal Caribbean has to offer.

Icon of the Seas broke records for Royal Caribbean when sailings on board this brand-new ship first went on sale, with the cruise line experiencing its single largest booking day in its 53-year history.

Icon of the Seas featured on The World’s Biggest Cruise Ship on Channel 4 at 8pm on Sunday, 18 August 2024. Missed it live? You can catch up online.
