MSC Euribia To Be Named by Sophia Loren in Copenhagen

Oscar-winning actress Sophia Loren will name the latest MSC Cruises ship, MSC Euribia, in a ceremony in Copenhagen on 8 June 2023. The Danish capital was chosen for its strong maritime links and dedication to sustainability, as MSC Euribia promises to deliver the ‘most energy-efficient cruise ship design ever’.

This will be the second ship in the fleet to be powered by liquified natural gas, and she is also set to feature further state-of-the-art environmental technologies, including advanced onboard wastewater treatment systems and waste management handling. Innovative underwater radiated noise management systems have also been developed to further minimise the impact on the marine environment.

Sophia Loren already holds a strong relationship with MSC Cruises, and will be on hand to name the brand-new vessel. She will be joined by Sarah Grünewald, a well-known Danish television host, actress and model who will serve as the Master of Ceremony.

Guests attending the event can expect a time-honoured tradition of breaking a bottle of Champagne over the bow of the vessel, a gala dinner, as well as live entertainment and performances. This will include a special DJ set to top off the night from world-renowned French DJ and record producer, Bob Sinclar.

After the event, MSC Euribia will then commence sailing in Northern Europe this summer with seven-night sailings from Kiel, Germany and Copenhagen, Denmark to the captivating Norwegian Fjords including Geiranger, Ålesund, and Flaam.
