NCL Expands Solo Stateroom Categories

NCL has revealed plans to introduce nearly 1,000 specially designed, single-occupancy staterooms across its fleet of 19 ships.

Three new categories of single stateroom – Solo Inside, Solo Oceanview, and Solo Balcony – are now available to book and will be rolled out on future journeys starting 2 January 2024. The pricing for these solo accommodations will depend on the destination and demand, providing a more affordable alternative compared to standard double occupancy rooms.

Those who choose these new solo occupancy categories will have exclusive access to the Studio Lounge, which is an exclusive sanctuary accessible only via a key card available on select ships. The lounge offers guests a calm space to unwind, a bar provisioned with wine and beer, as well as a daily selection of snacks. Beyond the lounge, solo travellers can take part in activities targeted specifically for individual travellers, fostering a mixing and mingling environment.

The expansion of solo staterooms from nine ships to the entire 19-ship fleet offers single cruisers a broader selection of destination options – including coveted locations such as Asia, Africa, Australia, and New Zealand – on ships that did not formerly include this special accommodation.

David J. Herrera, president of Norwegian Cruise Line, commented: “We strive to provide our guests with diverse offerings to create their dream vacation.

“Since we first launched our solo staterooms in 2010 with Norwegian Epic, they have been quite popular with single travellers. We are continuously listening to our guests to deliver the experience they want. After realizing the growing demand of individuals looking to travel on their own, we have now expanded single occupancy staterooms across our fleet.”
