Silversea has announced that Felicity Aston MBE will be the godmother of its ultra-luxury expedition ship when she launches next month. Silver Endeavour is due to embark on her maiden voyage on 21 November 2022, when she will set sail for Antarctica.
Aston’s career has spanned more than two decades, during which she has undertaken many challenging expeditions in some of the world’s most extreme environments. She is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and The Explorers Club, as well as an elected member of the Society of Women Geographers.
She commented: “I am honoured to have been selected as the Godmother of Silver Endeavour – a beautiful ship that will introduce countless travellers to the magnificent allure of the Polar Regions.
With each of my expeditions, I am driven to push boundaries, to explore new frontiers, and to experience the planet’s most spectacular places. Guests travelling aboard Silversea’s newest ship will exercise these same ambitions with the charting of each course, the launching of every Zodiac, and the arrival in each destination. She is a vehicle for discovery in every sense of the term and I am excited to sail to the Polar Regions in such comfort.”
Silver Endeavour has been built to PC6 polar class specifications. She carries state-of-the-art amenities and boasts an industry-leading Zodiac-to-guest ratio. Other highlights include cutting-edge navigation and exploration technology, including a remote gimbal camera system, which can capture high-quality images.
