Princess Cruises is promising guests aboard its UK-based ships an array of coronation-themed events and entertainment to mark the crowning of King Charles III next month. Sky Princess and Regal Princess are both embarking on cruises from Southampton when the event takes place, with extra-special festivities planned on board.
Live coverage of The Coronation Service at Westminster and ‘The Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle will be shown on the Movies Under the Stars screen. Meanwhile, the Biggest Street Party is to be replicated on the top deck.
A ‘Royal Afternoon Tea’ will be served on board both ships, complete with British staples such as Victoria sponge cake and strawberries and Pimms. Fare such as fish and chips, sausage rolls, and trifle will be available in the World Fresh Marketplace.
The King’s former butler Grant Harrold will be speaking on board Regal Princess between 3 and 5 May and on Sky Princess between 6 and 13 May. He is not only a former member of the British Royal Household, but also a leading etiquette expert, royal commentator and broadcaster.
In addition, the Piazzas on board Sky Princess and Regal Princess will be decorated for the occasion using banners and bunting, while guests will be encouraged to wear royal red, white and blue for a special dress-up night.
Regal Princess will call to Holyhead in Wales on 6 May as part of the ship’s itinerary around the British Isles. This will enable guests the opportunity to experience the historical moment in a part of the UK that has strong ties with the King.
On Sky Princess, an exclusive array of Coronation-themed entertainment will take place, including a special Royal Variety Show featuring a tribute to Elton John performed in the Princess Theatre, alongside Royal Trivia in Princess Live.
