Susan Calman’s Cruise of a Lifetime is returning to our screens, as the much-loved TV star showcases some of the most incredible journeys that can be taken by river and sea. Airing on Channel 5 on Fridays throughout January – and then available to watch on catch-up via My5 – the series offers plenty of holiday inspiration, as well as behind-the-scenes glimpses of what makes these journeys so great.
At 8pm on 17 January 2025, Susan Calman’s Cruise of a Lifetime will see her board Fred. Olsen’s Bolette on a fascinating sailing to the Norwegian Fjords.
Starting her eight-night journey from Liverpool, Susan visits popular Norwegian ports including Olden, Ålesund, Åndalsnes, and Geiranger. She spends time taking in the exceptional views of Nordfjord and Geirangerfjord, and sailed by the iconic Seven Sisters Waterfall.
Embracing Norway’s love for the outdoors, known locally as ‘friluftsliv’, Susan explores the Briksdal Glacier from Olden, went kayaking in Ålesund’s Brosundet canal, and tackled her fear of heights by enjoying the spectacular views from the Loen Skylift and Romsdalen Gondola. Adding to her adventures, she hopped aboard the Golden Train on the historic Rauma Line from Åndalsnes to Bjorli, celebrated as one of the most picturesque train rides in Europe.
Later in the series, Susan Calman’s Cruise of a Lifetime will see her visit the Caribbean on board the luxury yacht, Emerald Sakara. Due to be shown at 8pm on 24 and 31 January 2025, the TV personality will visit the Leeward Islands, visiting smaller ports of call and engaging in a mix of natural wonders and cultural experiences.
Among the ports of call on Susan Calman’s luxury yacht cruise are Anguilla, Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke. On board Emerald Sakara, she makes the most of the Caribbean sunshine and takes part in a ‘Sip and Spa’ party.
The first two episodes of Susan Calman’s Cruise of a Lifetime see the comedian explore India by road and river.
In part one, which aired on Channel 5 on Friday, 3 January, Susan Calman visited the bazaars of Old Delhi, took in the splendour of the Taj Mahal, and savoured Agra’s culinary offerings. While in Jaipur, she finds herself awestruck by the grandeur of the Amer Fort and immerses herself in learning about indigenous textile techniques.
The journey then led her to Kolkata, where Susan Calman embarked on a Ganges river cruise, which brought her even closer to India’s rich culture, history and heritage.
Episode two, which is due to air on Friday, 10 January, follows Susan’s adventures in Kolkata, hailed as India’s heart of culture. She links up with Ifte, a local guide, who shows her around on an early morning tour. On board her India cruise, she continues up the Ganges to Kalna, famously dubbed ‘Temple Town’ for its dense collection of Hindu temples. As her exploration of India wraps up, her last destination is the charming city of Chandannagar.
