Holland America Line is celebrating 150 years in the industry with the launch of a limited-edition pilsner beer. HAL Pils is available in a commemorative can which depicts the iconic Jan van Beers poster showing a woman in a nautical-blue dress holding a Holland America Line steamship above her head.
The beer has been developed in partnership with Pike Brewing, a Seattle-based brewing company based in the home town of the cruise line. A pilsner was selected due to its classic European style and popularity in the craft brewing world.
Described as “zesty, bright and refreshingly hoppy”, the brew is made using Mosaic Hops that originate from the Yakima Valley in Washington State.
HAL Pils will be available in all bars and lounges across the fleet from January 2023, and can also be purchased in six packs from shipboard shops.
“There’s no better way to honour our past and celebrate our present than to choose a classic beer style like a Pilsner that’s having a resurgence in the craft beer world. It’s clean, refreshing, and crisp and our guests are really going to enjoy this exclusive production,” said Anthony Stice, Vice-President of Dining and Beverage Operations for Holland America Line.
