Read MoreHX Expeditions has announced a new television partnership with ITV, bringing the wonders of the Southern Ocean to screens in a three-part documentary series titled Julia Bradbury’s Wonders of the Frozen South.
Airing on ITV1 at 12.45pm on 15 February, 22 February and 1 March, the series follows broadcaster and explorer Julia Bradbury on a 23-day expedition to some of the most remote regions on Earth, including the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and Antarctica.
Travelling aboard HX Expeditions’ purpose-built expedition ship MS Fram, Julia’s journey begins at the tip of South America and ventures deep into polar waters. Along the way, she encounters dramatic landscapes, vast seabird colonies and extraordinary wildlife uniquely adapted to life in one of the planet’s harshest environments, while also meeting resilient communities shaped by the extremes of the Southern Ocean.
Each episode focuses on a different destination, with the opening programme exploring the Falkland Islands, followed by South Georgia’s wildlife-rich shores in episode two, before concluding in Antarctica.
From towering glaciers and expansive ice fields to windswept coastlines and ice-filled seas, the series showcases the region’s fragile ecosystems. Julia also meets scientists and expedition specialists working to better understand and protect these extraordinary environments, offering viewers a deeper insight into life at the edge of the world.
The collaboration highlights HX Expeditions’ long-standing expertise in polar exploration and its commitment to responsible expedition cruising, bringing audiences closer to some of the most awe-inspiring and least-visited places on the planet.
