Cunard has announced it will be continuing its alliance with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) on board Queen Mary 2, which will bring top-tier theatrical performances on board the luxury cruise liner’s Transatlantic stage.

Guests embarking on the ocean liners between 7 April and 9 June 2024, and 16 August – 1 November 2024, will be treated to productions by the RSC.

In addition to the theatrical performances, the cruise itineraries will offer a series of acting workshops led by the RSC cast, and an evening event named ‘Shakespeare Tales’. The latter aims to provide a more intimate, relaxed perspective on some of the Bard’s most celebrated works.

Exclusively curated for the Queen Mary 2 is a brand-new piece, ‘Boundless as the Sea’, conceived by Owen Horsley. This novel creation weaves together iconic love scenes from Shakespeare’s vast repertoire to create a brand-new performance.

The onboard RSC actors will also lead interactive workshops. The ‘Shakespeare Tales’ event will see the actors presenting their favourite sonnets and soliloquies, allowing participants to engage in thoughtful dialogue on why these pieces resonate with them.

Guests will have the opportunity to view a critically acclaimed new work, an abridged version of the RSC’s 2018 production of ‘Miss Littlewood’. Delving into the life of one of theatre’s most radical figures, Joan Littlewood, this musical by Sam Kenyon is certain to spark intrigue.

To top it off, popular RSC productions from recent years will be showcased through screenings hosted in the ship’s cinema and available on stateroom TVs.
