Wonder of the Seas is the biggest ship ever to hit the ocean waves. The 1,188-foot, 6,998-passenger addition to the Royal Caribbean International fleet recently set sail for the first time, promising guests more thrills, spills and features than they could possibly ever imagine.
Here are just some of the most impressive features you’re likely to find on board.
A whopper of a Windjammer
Royal Caribbean fans will be more than acquainted with the Windjammer – a buffet-style restaurant that promises a feast of culinary delights pretty much every hour of the day. It’s hardly surprising then to learn that the Wonder of the Seas also has this eclectic eatery on board but, you guessed it, it’s bigger and better than ever.
In fact, the Windjammer on this ship is the largest in all of the fleet – but that’s not all. There’s also a section designed especially for kids, where the stations are set up at knee height so they can serve themselves.
Wonder of the Seas features just for kids
Many of the Wonder of the Seas features put the fun factor into family cruising. An underwater-themed interactive play area will keep your little ones entertained for hours on end. Slides, climbing walls, imaginative puzzles – this ship has it all. You’ll also be able to practice your swing at the Wonder Dunes mini golf course; if you’ve experienced it on other Royal Caribbean ships before, expect to see a few new-and-improved features.
Let a Royal Genie grant your wishes
If you’re lucky enough to be staying in one of the Wonder of the Seas Star Class suites, prepare to have (almost) every wish granted by your very own Royal Genie! A cross between a butler and a wish maker, they’re on hand to make your cruise as easy and luxurious as possible.
The Royal Genies are shared amongst just a handful of suites, and they can do everything from securing your preferred seats in the theatre to bagging reservations in your favourite onboard restaurants every night. Want to arrange a private gathering? Done! Interestingly, they’re the only crew members not to wear name tags in the public areas of the ship, so you know they are fully committed to meeting your every need.
Everybody needs good neighbour(hood)s
Staying on the topic of suites, Wonder of the Seas features an eighth neighbourhood, a first for the Oasis class of ships – the Suite Neighbourhood. The concept was designed to give each area of the ship its own distinct personality; whether that’s the classic feel of the Boardwalk Neighbourhood, to the inner-ship sanctuary that is Central Park, it’s quite frankly an easy way to know where you are on the behemoth of a ship.
Wonder of the Seas introduces the Suite Neighbourhood to the fleet for the first time. Royal Suite Guests will benefit from a private sundeck with its own plunge pool and bar, as well popular onboard eateries such as the Coastal Kitchen. If you’re treating the entire tribe to a cruise on Wonder of the Seas, this is also where you’ll find the Ultimate Family Suite, capable of sleeping 10 guests.
Vue Bar: A bar with a … well, view
There’s no shortage of great dining venues on board Wonder of the Seas, but one that has really caught our attention is Vue Bar. Sip on a cocktail as you marvel at the panoramic views of the ocean that surround you from this cantilevered drinking hole – this is what cruising is all about.
Even more spectacular is the mosaic canopy that comes to life with a whole spectrum of colours as the sun begins to set. We can think of worse places to while away an hour or two!
Wonder of the Seas is sailing throughout the Caribbean in March and April 2022, before heading to the Mediterranean for a series of itineraries. Ports include the likes of Naples, Palma and Provence. Find your perfect Wonder of the Seas cruise by clicking here.
